About NWNCC
Established in 1909, this intimate, historic wedding venue has been called the "crown jewel" of NW Portland. Our 2600-square-foot reception hall comfortably holds 84 people and provides a welcoming space for Portland receptions and ceremonies.
NWNCC boasts hand-crafted Roman Revival architecture with an array of photography opportunities throughout the building and the surrounding NW Portland neighborhood. The reception hall includes large daylight windows that extend onto a small courtyard, perfect for enjoying the summer air. This historical Portland venue comes with round and rectangular tables, a small stage, a dance floor, a BOSE sound system, a kitchenette and an acoustic piano. The large windows fill two sides of the room, and an adjacent loading zone makes it easy to load and unload items for your event.
Our Wedding Venue Philosophy: A Mission with Heart
Portland couples today want to know that their wedding dollars are going back into their community. By renting with NWNCC, your dollars go directly into supporting theater education for hundreds of children in the Portland area. NWNCC’s managing tenant is the Northwest Children’s Theater and School, and their mission is to educate, entertain and enrich the lives of young audiences. NWCT is not just about plays, or classes. It’s about the next generation of creative thinkers.
At NWNCC we believe that weddings should be affordable, and our rates reflect this mission. NWNCC provides an inexpensive Portland venue that allows you to fully customize your wedding day. Once you've chosen NWNCC as your wedding venue you can focus on tailoring the space for your unique vision. Our event site is OLCC friendly, and we won’t tie you to any particular vendors.

Looking Glass Hall offers affordable package pricing that includes our amenities and services so that you can control your budget. The NWNCC is an active, vital building in the neighborhood. Our Staff works year-round producing live theater events, providing arts education classes, and creating unique special events for our patron families and the children of the greater Portland community. Northwest Children’s Theater is committed to maintaining and improving the building for current and future generations. When you rent the NWNCC you become part of this important stewardship. Amenities included with Looking Glass Hall
Tables and Chairs:
Take an additional vendor off your list and save money. We've got you covered. Looking Glass Hall is a wedding venue that includes up to 12 60"-round tables (which seat up to 6 people each), 10 72"-rectangular tables, and 84 chairs. You will have plenty of tables and chairs for gift tables, head table, photos and dinner. You provide direction for the layout, and we make sure it is ready to go when you arrive. You’ll be able to walk in and begin decorating hassle free.
Kitchenette:
This wedding venue comes with a kitchenette that includes standard sized refrigerator and sink. Use this space for a wet bar or to hold bar (or food) items that need to stay cold. The sink is a great resource for easy clean up. If you’re trying to keep your wedding budget friendly, bring your own potluck dishes and use the kitchenette as a food staging area.
Stage and Sound System:
A small stage sits at one end of the Looking Glass Hall and is a natural place to set up your DJ or band and to toast your guests. Your rental includes a Bose sound system with a single microphone and iPod or Laptop computer-compatible inline for sharing your wedding music playlist. A digital projector and screen are also included, subject to availability.
Children's Play Area (as available and may require additional fee.)
If your Portland wedding has children, they won't want to miss the Storybook Theater. With 1400 square feet of pure imagination, Storybook Theater is our premiere venue for children's events. This rental space has a small stage and a wall painted with a magical forest scene and is just adjacent to where all of your wedding activities will be happening in Looking Glass Hall. Piano available. Capacity: 60 standing, 30 playing.
Lighting and Sound:
Set the mood of your event with dimmer controlled lighting. Perhaps you want it to be bright and cheery or romantic and dim. Personalize the ambiance with fully dimmable chandeliers and twinkling lights around the dance floor. Rental also includes a BOSE sound system and stage perfect for ceremony vows, or reception toasts and DJ. Live musicians are welcome too!
Dance Floor:
With Looking Glass Hall your guests will know exactly where the dancing happens. The room has a dance floor right in the heart of the space so guests can take part or take a break and watch before re-entering the fun. The space is arranged so that even those who aren’t dancing can fully experience the fun.
Private entrance:
You and your guests will arrive through your own private entrance. There is easy drop off for older adults as guests park. Guests walk into a small bright foyer, which is a lovely location for a gift or favors table.
Outdoor courtyard
:
Just outside the wedding venue is a small outdoor courtyard complete with bench. Guests can step outside to catch a summer breeze.
Dressing studios:
Get ready on-site during the day of. We will have a room that is yours for a quiet moment before your entrance. Keep it as a quiet retreat or a private place to celebrate with your bridesmaids beforehand.
ADA accessible facilities:
Make sure that all of your guests can enjoy your celebration with ease. Our site is fully ADA accessible.
Great Neighborhood
Looking Glass Hall and NWNCC are situated in the heart of Northwest Portland, which makes it a fantastic location for guests. Surrounded by great shopping and delicious Portland restaurants, your guests will have plenty to keep them entertained before and after your wedding. If your party winds into the late evening there are dozens of bars just a few blocks away. Portland’s streetcar and Max transit lines are within easy walking distance, so you can be assured that your guests will be able to get to and from your event safely. Those with cars will find hotels and bed and breakfasts within a few minutes of NWNCC, and there are three hostels only one block away from the site. If you’re looking to plan a whole wedding weekend, your wedding will come as a capstone to a weekend of sightseeing, shopping, dining, and even a Timber’s Game in the adjacent Jeld-Wen field.
